2015年3月1日，冷空气到达华北地区，前日的污染带往东南方向压迫，造成山东境内大面积轻度污染。南疆各地连续第三天遭受沙尘影响，但是PM10污染开始趋于减轻，多地降至中度至重度水平。全国其他地区空气质量状况尚可。MODIS卫星图片上，安徽、江苏一带灰霾明显。由于中国空气质量标准偏低，PM2.5浓度超过75微克每立方米才被划定为轻度污染，但是实际上超过35微克每立方的PM2.5浓度在一定湿度条件下就已经可以形成明显的灰霾，对能见度造成很大影响了。
