新年第一天，受冷空气继续南下影响，我国东部从北至南大部分地区空气质量良好，山东半岛和东北半数城市更表现为优。河北及周边邻近地区，在昨日冷空气过境后，今天随即开始反弹，连片呈现轻度污染态势。西南和西北接昨日继续表现为污染较为严重的地区。尤其四川盆地的川东北和川南及重庆均表现为重度污染，以及新疆多城市继昨日维持重度污染水平。

中国环境监测总站城市日报截图：2015年1月1日

另外，自昨日起，中国环境监测总站开始在其全国城市空气质量发布平台发布338个地级以上城市的实时空气质量监测数据。在此之前的整个2013年和2014年，总站平台发布实时数据的监测城市数量分别保持在74个和161个，这次在2014年161个重点和示范城市的基础上一次性增加了177个地级以上城市。目前执行新标准实时发布数据的338个城市共有1436个监测点，每个监测点都遵照空气质量新标准监测可吸入颗粒物（PM10）、细颗粒物（PM2.5）、二氧化硫、二氧化氮、一氧化碳以及臭氧共6项空气污染物。新修订的《环境保护法》也将于2015年1月1日开始实施。
